Sarah Crook

Sarah Crook is a historian of modern Britain with particular expertise in the history of activism and the history of medicine. Her work specialises in the ways that activists have challenged, subverted, and championed medical categories and access to care. Her current research examines the history of anxiety about student mental health. She is currently a senior lecturer in Post-1800 European Social and Cultural History at Swansea University, where she directs the university’s multidisciplinary gender research centre, GENCAS. Before she took up this post she held the Sir Christopher Cox Junior Fellowship at New College, Oxford. She completed her PhD, funded by the Wellcome Trust, at Queen Mary University of London in 2016.
