Rhys is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences, Cardiff University, and a Consultant Psychiatrist with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. He is dual-trained in both child/adolescent and adult psychiatry. In addition to his medical training, he has a degree in illustration and animation, and is interested in the role of visual and digital media in mental health. Rhys has been awarded two fellowships by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) i) to co-develop and evaluate (Doctoral Fellowship), and ii) to refine and conduct a feasibility trial of (Post Doctoral Fellowship) ‘MoodHwb’ a bilingual digital programme for depression/anxiety in young people. He recently started a HCRW Advancing Researcher Award to explore digital and youth mental health, and mental health difficulties in the transition from child to adult life.
