Kim is a film theorist and curator whose research straddles experimental film studies and the environmental humanities. She is Senior Lecturer in Alternative and Experimental Film at Aberystwyth University, where she is Co-Director of the Centre for Material Thinking. Her previous research has focused on 16mm film practices and grassroots artistic communities, with an emphasis on materiality and ecology. Currently, she is expanding this work to explore the politics of visual representation in the context of climate crisis and emerging reconfigurations of ‘nature’. She is interested in pursuing projects that communicate environmental issues in imaginative ways.
Kim is actively involved in public engagement activities and has been a film programmer for the Edinburgh International Film Festival since 2008.
