Karianne obtained her BSc degree in Human Movement Sciences and Physiology at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and went on to complete an MSc (Maastricht University, Netherlands), MPhil (Birmingham University, UK) and her PhD (Kingston University, UK). She is worked as a Principal Lecturer in the department of Physiology and Health at the Cardiff School of Sport, Cardiff Metropolitan University. Her most current research is examining the cardiovascular health of cancer patients and the effect of physical activity, involving interdisciplinary working with the psychology department and medical school. Karianne is extremely keen to further explore the role of physical activity in the cardiovascular health of people at risk of cancer as well as those people living with cancer.
Karianne is now an Honorary Reader in Exercise Physiology and Health in Cardiff Metropolitan University.
