Welsh Crucible 2022
Jen obtained her BSc(hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Bath University, MSc degree in Rehabilitation Science from McGill University, and PhD in Clinical Sciences from University of Colorado. She went on to work at the Sobell Department of Motor Neuroscience and Movement Disorders at University College London and the Biomechanics and Bioengineering Research Centre Versus Arthritis at Cardiff University, before taking up her current position as lecturer within the School of Healthcare Sciences at Cardiff University. Her research seeks to uncover how our muscles, sense organs, nerves and brain interact to produce the complex, coordinated patterns of muscle activity required for everyday activities such as walking, and what happens when these systems are challenged by pathology, illness or environmental factors. Jen would like to explore how we can use advances in knowledge of basic systems neurophysiology to drive benefit for individuals and society, including how we engage individuals with their own health behaviours.
