Gethin obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Exeter working in partnership with the Economic and Social Research Council and Rugby Football Union. He is currently a Senior Lecturer and Research Lead in Sport Coaching at the Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences. Gethin’s research interest focuses on the pedagogy of sport coaching in relation to exploring, understanding and locating the educational function of coaches, thus viewing them as more capable others and learning as a social practice. His current research is an innovative FIFA inter-disciplinary project aiming to improve coaching practice, team strategic and tactical understanding in football using video analysis. Gethin is interested in developing research collaborations focusing on theoretical, practical and innovative socio-pedagogical approaches.
