Francisco Martin-Martinez, Fran, is Senior Lecturer in Computational Chemistry at Swansea University, and Research Affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He joined Swansea University, after 6 years at MIT, and a previous postdoctoral experience at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He is a Chemical Engineer and PhD in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry from the University of Granada (Spain). Outside academia, he likes to collaborate with start-ups, social enterprises, and industry partners. He is co-instructor at Station1, a non-profit on socially directed science and technology, and he sits at the advisory board of Sweetwater Energy, an integrated biorefinery. He has been president of the Association of Spanish Scientists in the USA (ECUSA), and in 2022, he was selected as Google Research Innovator because of his work on computational chemistry. Fran is passionate about innovation, people, and education.
