Welsh Crucible 2023

Edith completed a PhD at Cardiff University (School of Geography and Planning) in 2020, using a Critical Discourse Analysis framework to understand how key changes in homelessness law affect homeless people’s citizenship. This work was recognised by two awards (The Valerie Karn Prize 2021 – Housing Studies Association, and the Aubrey Jones/ Women in Wales Award 2021). Now a Senior Lecturer in Policy and Practice at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Edith recently completed a large project exploring emotional wellbeing among workers in domestic abuse services and is collaborating with colleagues at Cardiff University on two projects – care narratives among those looking after a loved one with dementia (School of Social Sciences), and homelessness driven migrations within queer communities (School of Architecture). Edith has extensive experiences of working with the third sector and local and national government (including on funded projects) and is keen to expanding this research network.
