Nick received his BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia and performed his doctoral studies at the University of Oxford. Nick remained at Oxford for several more years, undertaking postdoctoral work in the Microbiology Unit and Dunn School of Pathology, before establishing his own group at the Genetics Unit in the Department of Biochemistry. In 2006, Nick moved to Cardiff University where he is now a Senior Lecturer and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His personal research and teaching interests lie in the structures of chromosomes and how they relate to development, disease states and evolution. His expertise in using state-of-the-art DNA sequencing technologies led to him being appointed as Academic Lead of the Cardiff School of Biosciences Genomics Research Hub in 2015. Nick is keen to promote understanding and collaboration in all aspects of genome science.
