Catherine is a Research Officer in the Welsh Institute of Physical Activity, Health and Sport at Swansea University. Catherine completed her PhD in Psychology where she contributed to the development and evaluation of a multi-component healthy eating and physical activity intervention for pre-school children in the school setting. Alongside her postgraduate training, she collaborated with a social enterprise to support the translation of research interventions into school-delivered programmes.
Catherine’s research considers how to prevent and protect both vulnerable individuals and whole populations from harm, and to support positive behaviour change to effectively promote and improve health and well-being across the life-course, whilst also considering the policy landscape. She has worked on a broad range of topics across the health spectrum from physical activity, healthy eating, use of technology, gambling, adverse childhood experiences, mental health and well-being, and public engagement, predominantly in a Welsh context, with some of her non-academic disseminated work informing policy and strategies at different levels.
