Dr Christian Laycock is an Associate Professor in Sustainable Chemistry at the University of South Wales, specialising in the valorisation of industrial and organic waste streams. After completing a First-Class BSc in Chemistry with Mathematics and a PhD in Heterogeneous Catalysis at Keele University, he joined USW in 2011 and has since developed a strong interdisciplinary research portfolio spanning fuel cell technology, hydrogen energy and circular approaches to resource recovery. Christian is the lead inventor of SIFER, an award winning waste derived slow release fertiliser, and has secured major research funding, including contributions to large ERDF, Innovate UK and DEFRA programmes. His work combines fundamental science with industry focused innovation, supporting low carbon transitions across energy and agriculture. Christian is passionate about translating research into real world impact and collaborating across disciplines to advance sustainable technologies.
