Katie is volcanologist and geologist, and is currently a Senior Lecturer at Swansea University. Katie’s research aims to better understand past volcanic eruptions in order to understand how these volcanoes may behave in the future. Katie uses volcanic deposits, rocks, and minerals, to resolve eruption histories, eruption dynamics, and pre-eruptive magmatic processes by integrating field studies with a variety of petrological, geochronological, and geochemical techniques. Katie completed an MGeoSci. degree in Geology at Keele University and a Masters in Volcanology at the Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans, Université Blaise Pascal, Clemont-Ferrand, France. She obtained her PhD at the University of East Anglia in 2014, before undertaking postdoctoral positions at University of East Anglia and at the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (University of Glasgow). Katie joined Swansea in 2019.
