Gemma is a Fulbright Scholar and Senior Lecturer in Criminology, specialising in digital justice, desistance and youth justice, focusing on innovation and criminal justice reform. Her recent research focuses on tackling digital exclusion among people in the criminal justice system (CJS) and developing evidence-based interventions to support desistance. She is the lead inventor of My Journey – a co-produced app designed to help CJS-involved individuals by enhancing their access to support services, improving digital literacy, and promoting desistance. Gemma is committed to bridging the gap between research and practice, working collaboratively with people with lived experience of the CJS and social/criminal justice organisations to drive meaningful, systemic change and improve outcomes for people in the CJS.
