Hassana is a Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She received her PhD in Operational Research from the University of Portsmouth in 2018, focusing on developing and implementing smart approaches for designing sustainable and robust routes for freight transportation using optimisation models and innovative solution methods. Following that, she served as the Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Portsmouth on two funded projects; (1) the DfT funded Solent Future Transport Zone (FTZ) Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) project; and (2) the Interreg 2-seas Smart Light Concepts (SLIC) project.
Her research interests are in the development of innovative optimisation models and solution methods to solve a range of complex real-world scheduling, supply chain, logistics and recommender systems problems which has led to high impact publications. She is currently working on a project investigating the impact of the Pupils Development Grant on student attainment gap.
