Jess obtained her BSc degree in Medical Pharmacology, before completing a Masters of Research and British Heart Foundation funded PhD at Cardiff University. She has post-doctoral experience establishing novel methods to stop the progression of cardiovascular disease, with a focus on reducing inflammation. She is now working as a Research Fellow at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where her recent research, funded by the Stroke Association, focuses on using blood biomarkers to predict the risk of stroke in high-risk populations. Other projects align exploring the recognition and understanding of symptoms and education to ensure better health of the population. Jess is the Patient Public Involvement lead for Stroke Hub Wales and is passionate in true co-production in research with experts by experience.
