Ian is the Associate Director of Research for the Welsh cancer charity Tenovus. His responsibilities include strategic and budgetary responsibility for Tenovus’ entire research portfolio, the evaluation of new and existing services and the development of health and wellbeing interventions that aim to reduce the incidence of cancer whilst promoting symptom awareness and early detection.For the past 6 years Ian has also been a member of the Senior Management Team with a shared responsibility for the overall operational and strategic management of the charity.
Despite being a molecular biologist by trade, Ian’s most recent projects include the development of community choirs as support groups for people affected by cancer, an online health check that highlights lifestyle risks and key cancer symptoms and (probably) the world’s first mobile ice cream van laboratory.
Ian has moved to the National Cancer Research Institute where he is currently Head of Strategy and Initiatives.
