Michael is a registered mental health nurse and academic. He obtained his BSc degree from London South Bank and an MSc from Middlesex. Michael completed his PhD at Swansea University while lecturing and co-ordinating under-graduate and post graduate courses in community mental health nursing. He is now a Senior Lecturer co-directing the approved mental health professional course at Swansea. Michael is currently part of team working on a NIHR funded project examining care and treatment planning in community mental health services in England and Wales and its relation to recovery outcomes. Michael is also elected chair of Mental Health Nurse Academics UK, a group representing academics at over 60 UK Higher Education Institutions providing mental health nurse education and research. Michael is keen to communicate and explore opportunities related to the delivery and organisation of mental health services and how people experience this.
Michael has been promoted to Professor, specialising in Public Health, Policy and Social Sciences, in the College of Human and Health Sciences at Swansea University.
