Wayne obtained his BSc degree in Biochemistry at Aberystwyth University. He went on the complete an MSc in Bioinformatics at Exeter University before returning to Aberystwyth to complete a PhD in molecular biology / Computer Science. Having completed post-doc positions at Aberystwyth and Manchester University he returned to Aberystwyth to take up a lecturing position in the Computer Science department. His most current research is looking at novel synthetic biology techniques and mining mixed DNA sequence data (metagenomics) for novel enzymes. Wayne is interested in interdisciplinary research and enjoys working at the interface between wet-laboratory experiments and computational biology.
