Sankar received his PhD in Chemistry from the National Chemical Laboratory, India in 2007 and then moved to the Cardiff Catalysis Institute, Cardiff University, where he worked as a PDRA until 2011. In 2011, he was awarded a prestigious and highly competitive Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship for Career Development to work at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. At the end of his fellowship at Utrecht, he was awarded the Chancellor’s Research Fellowship to start an independent research group within the CCI. Since March 2014, he is involved in setting-up an independent research group aimed at “Developing Catalytic Technologies for a Green and Sustainable Society”. His current research interests include developing catalytic technologies for CO2 utilisation and biomass conversion for making fuels and chemicals. He is further interested in understanding the mechanism of these catalytic processes.

Sankar is currently a Lecturer in Physical Chemistry in the School of Chemistry at Cardiff University.
