Mark Eaton
Cardiff University
Welsh Crucible 2014
Mark was awarded an MEng in mechanical engineering from Cardiff University, where he subsequently went on to complete his PhD. He now works as a postdoctoral research associate in the structural performance research group within Cardiff School of Engineering. His research has predominantly focussed on detecting damage in composite structures, for aerospace applications. However, his most recent research aims to improve the properties of composite materials through the addition of nano-materials, such as Graphene, work which is being conducted in collaboration with School of Pharmacy and Haydale Ltd. (a Welsh SME). Mark is keen to apply his experience in experimental design, measurement, inspection and analysis to research challenges that will deliver industrial or societal impact.
Mark is now a Lecturer in the Cardiff School of Engineering at Cardiff University.
