Julia obtained her BA degree in sociology at the University of Durham, her MSc in social policy and planning at LSE and her PhD in medical sociology at the University of Manchester. Prior to her PhD she held research roles for Save the Children and UNICEF in Africa and Latin America and in UK social policy research. She now co-leads a primary care research group in Bangor University. Her research conducted with her team based in Wrexham seeks to contribute to improving patients’ experience of primary health care in Wales. Current research focuses on the early diagnosis of cancer and care in the last days and weeks of life.
