Welsh Crucible 2018

Jennifer obtained her MChem degree from the University of York which included an Erasmus year in Muenster, Northern Germany. She then moved to Basel, Switzerland for her PhD before moving to North Carolina, USA a Swiss National Science Foundation Mobility Fellow. She had a two-year career break for parenting (and is now the proud mum of a cheeky toddler) before starting her current position at Swansea University.

Jennifer’s research has always been interdisciplinary in nature, inspired by trying to recreate photosynthesis in the lab. She has experience in developing chromophores for dye-sensitised solar cells, water oxidation catalysts and, more recently, copper catalysts that convert carbon dioxide into fuels. The latter work has been featured in a number of online science and technology magazines. Alongside work in the lab Jennifer enjoys participating in Recycling Carbon – an outreach event to encourage the general public to think about their contribution to climate change.
