Gwyneth is a Clinical Associate Professor at Swansea University Medical School and Respiratory Consultant at ABMU Health Board where she leads the Asthma & Allergy service. Specialist experience was obtained in Wales, London and New Zealand. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. Gwyneth’s research on the genetic epidemiology of asthma has resulted in her co-authoring a Nature publication. She leads the UK-wide Postgraduate Training Scheme for Asthma Researchers (Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research) and co-leads a programme on reducing asthma exacerbations, admissions and deaths.
Gwyneth works on the potential of big data to improve patient care: including disease forecasting, targeting inequalities and health economic analyses. Current interests are in developing a Learning Health System for asthma in Wales. Previous collaboration with the College of Engineering includes NIHR funded work on asthma sensor development. Gwyneth also makes scientific contributions to Welsh radio and TV.
Gwyneth has now been promoted to Professor in Swansea University’s Medical School.
