Welsh Crucible 2016
Eirini’s career in linguistics began with an undergraduate degree at the University of Athens. This was followed by an MA in Linguistics at the University of Reading and a PhD at the University of London (UCL), where she studied phonological acquisition in typically developing children. She then moved to a postdoctoral position at the Centre for Research on Bilingualism, Bangor University, where she examined syntactic processing in Welsh-English bilinguals using electrophysiological methods. She is currently employed as a senior lecturer in language acquisition at the School of Linguistics and English Language, Bangor University. Her research is interdisciplinary by nature, covering language acquisition in monolingual and bilingual children, as well as language development in individuals with Down syndrome. Eirini is keen to explore and promote awareness about bilingualism in children with and without developmental disorders.
