Phil completed his PhD at Cardiff University in 2019. Before moving to Cardiff, he spent five years managing a youth-led radio station as a qualified youth and community worker in the North of England. He is now working in the Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre (CASCADE) at Cardiff University. His most current piece of work is a three-year funded post-doctoral fellowship from Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW). The research is exploring the transitions of care experienced young people who have been excluded from mainstream schooling, and the barriers and facilitators for helping them sustain placements in post-16 destinations. Phil is interested in learning how to create greater research impact in policy and public spheres and is eager to meet with people from different disciplines, to share new ideas and perspectives on research with young people in transition.
