Megan received her BA in English Literature from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and then completed an MPhil and PhD at the University of Cambridge. She was appointed at Cardiff University in 2012, where she is now Reader in English Literature and current President of the International Arthurian Society British Branch. Her interdisciplinary research on later medieval English literature embraces the medical humanities and connections between literature and law.

Her most recent book reconfigures the long cultural history of sleep by exploring literature’s intersections with medicine and science from the twelfth century to the early seventeenth, with implications for our understanding of sleep’s importance for mental wellbeing and the processing of traumatic emotions. She is passionate about the myriad contributions that medieval studies promises to make to the medical humanities and about helping the public engage with the many ways in which the past matters to us today.
