Dr Maria Cheshire-Allen is a Senior Research Fellow at Swansea University, holding a Health and Care Research Wales Social Care Fellowship and an Advancing Researcher Award. An established expert in unpaid carer research and co-production, she has over sixteen years of experience leading participatory studies with carers and policymakers across Wales and internationally.
Her work focuses on the democratic value of unpaid care, examining how caregiving contributions are recognised and represented within health and social care systems. Maria brings significant expertise to international comparative research, currently leading Wales-based fieldwork for the INVALUABLE project, a cross-national study with the Basque Country, Spain.
