Magdalini Theodoridou holds a PhD in Conservation Science from the University of Bologna (EPISCON project – Marie Curie Actions) and a degree in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has worked as a research and teaching fellow in Italy, Hungary, Cyprus and the UK.
Her research includes work on the characterisation of porous materials, conservation of cultural heritage, decay mechanisms, optimisation of composites with advanced technologies, a well as the innovative use of micro/non-destructive techniques. She is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow at Cardiff University developing biological self-healing systems for construction geomaterials in contemporary and historic structures.
Since 2018, she has been Chair of the Marie Curie Alumni Association ‘Gender Equality and Diversity for Mobile Researchers in Science’ Working Group, through which she advocates for equal opportunities in career development, as well as a healthy work-life balance in the academic work environment.
