Jose is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and Youth Sport at Cardiff Metropolitan University, working across both educational and sporting contexts. His doctoral work explored how constructivist learner-centred approaches impact athlete understanding, decision-making, and overall performance, using action research to drive meaningful change within practice. Jose’s current research is underpinned by critical pedagogy, enabling participants to interrogate dominant discourses and develop critical consciousness and agency. Alongside his academic role, Jose has collaborated with organisations such as Sport Wales and UK Coaching to bridge research and practice, contributing to coach and teacher education at national level. He believes that transforming teaching and coaching by prioritising critical thinking, reflection, and inclusion is essential to shaping a more equitable future for sport and education in Wales and beyond.
