Jessica Kevill is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Virology at Bangor University. She completed her PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Salford in 2018, focusing on Deformed wing virus resistance in European honey bees. Following her PhD, Jessica gained a postdoctoral research position at the University of Minnesota, developing virus detection methods using Next-Generation Sequencing. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, Jessica joined Bangor University’s wastewater surveillance team, specializing in the development of methods for detecting viruses in aquatic matrices. The work led Jessica to the Blue Adapt project, where she researches how climate change impacts human-derived viruses in coastal and estuarine environments. Her work involves predicting the risks to human health that waterborne viruses pose in aquatic environments under climate change conditions.
