Jenny Rhymes is an environmental scientist specialising in sustainable land management, with a focus on lowland peat systems. Her work centres on greenhouse gas removal, exploring how rewetted peatlands and biochar can be combined to enhance carbon dioxide removal while maintaining productive land use. She has worked at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology for the past four years and was recently a 2025–2026 R&D Fellow with Defra, working at the science–policy interface to inform future land-use strategies on lowland peat. Jenny leads the Paludiculture Exploration Fund project on biochar integration, addressing financial barriers to paludiculture adoption within farming communities, while contributing to emerging approaches in the greenhouse gas removals. Her research brings together field experiments, policy engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration to develop practical, scalable climate solutions.
