Jasper is a lecturer in sport and exercise biomechanics at Cardiff Metropolitan University. He obtained his BSc in architecture, building and planning – with a focus on structural design – from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, and completed his MSc and PhD in sports biomechanics at Liverpool John Moores University. He then worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in muscle biomechanics at University of Birmingham. His research investigates the biomechanical loads experienced during sports movements, biomechanical adaptations in response to training, muscle-tendon mechanics, and running biomechanics. A particular interest is the use of wearable technologies – such as body-worn inertial measurement units – and musculoskeletal modelling to better understand the biomechanics of sports movements. Jasper is committed to using his biomechanical expertise to help people participate in sports safely and is keen to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects to achieve this.
