David obtained his BSc in Zoology at The University of Liverpool, and went on to complete an MSc in Conservation Biology and PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). He worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the (then) School of Environmental and Geographical Sciences at MMU, developing conservation capacity in the biodiversity hotspots of southwest China and the Philippines. He went on to work with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds as a Conservation Scientist in Indonesia focusing on forest ecosystem restoration. His current research explores wildlife interactions with, and responses to landscape degradation and restoration, both in the tropics and south Wales uplands, and involves working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. David is keen to deliver effective solutions to the impacts facing threatened biodiversity, and that support the co-benefits of wildlife conservation, communities, and ecosystem goods and services.
