Chelsea obtained her PhD at the University of Exeter as part of a collaborative project with the International Tennis Federation. Chelsea joined Swansea University as a Sport and Exercise Sciences Lecturer in 2022. Before joining the University, Chelsea held a Research Fellow position at the University of Salford. Chelsea’s role was to collaborate with the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance (MIHP) – a world-leading sport and exercise medicine institute for diagnosis, education, and research in health and performance.
Chelsea’s research interests include lower-limb biomechanics, shoe-surface interactions and biomechanical factors associated with ankle and knee injuries and the consequence of these injuries. Chelsea has been involved in interdisciplinary work across diverse professions (e.g. surgeons, physiotherapists, coaches, and engineers), which has led to the development of research-led assessment and analysis packages, and novel interventions for different populations including elite athletes, clinical populations, and trauma patients.
