Alex obtained his BSc degree in Psychology at Bangor University in 2010, and went on to complete his PhD there in 2013. He then moved to Gettysburg College in the United States, where he worked as a postdoctoral researcher, before returning to Wales in 2016 to join the Psychology department at Swansea University as a lecturer. His research interests focus primarily on the human face and the kinds of information it contains, with a recent focus on what kinds of colouration is perceived as healthy in faces, as well as developing a biological account of how cosmetics can make faces more attractive. Alex is very passionate about sharing research findings with the public to increase everyone’s understanding, and engages regularly with the media on research topics regarding health, well-being, and appearance.
