Yasir is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Aberystwyth University since January 2022. He completed his PhD in 2020 at Institut Polytechnique de Paris, France and previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Inria Lille – Nord Europe, France for two years. He holds a dual MSc in Computer Science (by Research) from Sunway University, Malaysia and Lancaster University, United Kingdom, which he obtained in 2015. He obtained his BSc in Information Technology in 2012 from the National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan. Yasir’s research mainly focuses on intelligent transportation systems, wireless networks, smart cities and artificial intelligence (particularly reinforcement learning). He develops solutions to address emerging challenges in self-driving vehicles and future transport systems with the aim of improving people comfort, safety, efficiency and sustainability. He is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration, exploring how technological innovations in transport systems can be combined with insights from other fields to enhance quality of life, people’s comfort and societal wellbeing.
