Laura Seymour is Senior Lecturer in English at Swansea University. She researches neurodivergence in early modern Europe—particularly British, Spanish, and Polish literature—and neurodivergence-inclusive pedagogy. She is PI of AMEND–Early Modern European Neurodivergence funded by a Career Development Award (Wellcome’s mid-career award) and author of Refusing to Behave in Early Modern Literature (EUP, 2022), Shakespeare and Neurodiversity (CUP, 2025) and Early Modern Neurodivergence (forthcoming, OUP). Her research centres neurodivergent people’s perspectives and experiences, exploring how literature can enhance our self-understanding and wellbeing. Laura is a psychotherapeutic counsellor (MNCPS, BACP), specialising in bibliotherapy. She prefers to work collaboratively and co-creatively, particularly with other neurodivergent and disabled people.
Laura is interested to make connections across disciplines, particularly with colleagues in psychology, medicine, and cognitive sciences, to enhance our mutual understanding of each other’s work and support better collaborations for neurodivergent people in the future. She is also keen to develop media and policy skills.
