Aled is a Royal Geographical Society Fellow with a professional background in urban renewal, community development and arts-based regeneration. In 2024 Aled joined the Welsh Economy Research Unit at Cardiff University’s Business School after three years post-PhD research and teaching at Swansea University Geography Department. His current research considers the barriers and opportunities for tidal power in and around Wales. His wider interests concern economic development and how places adapt to climate change. Aled is interested in attachments to place and has published widely on methods which involve walking approaches and inter-disciplinary collaborations. For the future he is interested in making data available so the public can better understand future energy systems and can pursue options such as community ownership. To that end he is developing a project which links Wales with northern Pakistan.
