Mayara earned her BA in Physiotherapy and MSc in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences from Universidade Federal de São Paulo in Brazil. She then completed a PhD in Sport and Exercise Science at Swansea University. After her doctorate, Mayara took on roles as a Research Officer at Bangor University and as the Patient and Public Involvement Lead at Swansea University’s Centre for Population Health. Her current research focuses on health and wellbeing, particularly within clinical populations, and she has extensive experience working with individuals affected by chronic pain conditions, cystic fibrosis, heart failure, epilepsy, and Parkinson’s disease. Mayara is keen to explore how research can better integrate patient and public perspectives to ensure health services meet population needs. She also investigates how services function, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
