Crwsibl Cymru 2025

Aimee has completed undergraduate degrees in Sports and Exercise Science and Clinical Physiology to become an NHS Cardiac Physiologist with specialism in Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound). Over ten years ago, Aimee moved from full time clinical NHS practise to academia. She completed her PhD in 2020 – which was focused upon understanding normal great ape physiology. She is now a Clinical Academic / Senior Lecturer in the Health and Wellbeing Academy at Swansea University. Her most current research follows two main themes – firstly – trying to further understand cardiovascular disease in our evolutionary cousins the great apes, and secondly, exploring how the human cardiac phenotype evolved through adaptations that can now leave us susceptible to cardiovascular diseases. She is also actively engaged in clinical cardiovascular research particularly with heart failure patients. Aimee is looking forward to meeting people from diverse research backgrounds and forging new collaborations.
