Laura obtained her BSc degree in Psychology at the University of Liverpool, her MSc in Neuropsychology at Bristol University, and her PhD in Population Medicine at Cardiff University. Laura had a brief stint working at Public Health Wales after taking some time out to travel. She is now working as a Research Officer and Data Scientist in the Population Data Science department at Swansea University Medical School. She was awarded a Social Care Fellowship from Health and Care Research Wales in 2023, and her project examines risk factors for entry and re-entry into the care system, and placement instability, for children in Wales. Laura is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable families and maximising the impact of her research in the real world. Laura is keen to explore how data science and technology can be used at the coalface of social work to communicate and mitigate risk and is interested in applying her skills to different fields.
