Owen graduated in Aeronautical Engineering before changing tack and returning to Cambridge University to study Graduate Medicine. He trained in clinical medicine in London and South Wales before specialising in Neurology as a Welsh Clinical Academic Trainee. He completed his Phd in Medicine at Swansea University and is now a clinical academic, working as a consultant neurologist at Morriston Hospital, Swansea and as an honorary associate professor at Swansea University Medical School.
His research interests include clinical neurology, epilepsy and health inequalities, epilepsy genetics, and how big data and natural language processing can be used to improve the lives of people living with epilepsy.
