Waraf is a Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Cardiff, Wales. She graduated from school of dentistry from Baghdad, Iraq, in 2010, followed a Master of Science in Paediatric Dentistry and a Master of Dental Public Health, University of Dundee. Waraf completed her PhD in 2020, focusing on the transitional experiences of dental graduates and their engagement with evidence-based practices.
Her research interests focusing on children oral health, particularly minimally invasive treatments and the integration of digital technologies into dental care. She has led several research projects, including evaluating the use of smartphone intra-oral photography for remote oral health assessments in children and exploring the dental general anaesthesia journey for paediatric patients and their families. Waraf actively contributes to community education initiatives, such as the “Talking Teeth” which aims to enhance dental health awareness among school children and the broader community.
