Ruth obtained her BSc degree in Psychology at the University of Nottingham, before completing her Masters Degree in Research Methods and PhD at the University of Sussex. Following her PhD, Ruth worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Royal Holloway, University of London, from 2009-2010, and then at Flinders University in South Australia, from 2010-2014. In 2014, Ruth took up a lectureship in Psychology at Swansea University, where she is now a Senior Lecturer.
Ruth’s research mostly focuses on how we can gain better information from witnesses to crimes – whether improving the reliability of eyewitness identification decisions, or capturing high-quality reports from witnesses about critical events.
Ruth has recently been working with local police forces to undertake applied research in real-world contexts, and is keen to work with a range of policy makers and stakeholders to help to tackle the challenges associated with witness memory.
