James obtained his BSc in Mathematics at the University of Exeter in 2005, and completed an MSc in Computational Science and Modelling the year after. He completed his PhD in Mathematics at the University of Exeter in 2010. His PhD was sponsored by the Met Office and investigated the numerical methods used in climate models. He then spent four and a half years at the University of Michigan, first as a postdoctoral research fellow, then as a senior research fellow in the Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences. He is now working as a mathematics lecturer at the University of South Wales, and is continuing his research into numerical models of the atmosphere.
