Welsh Crucible 2014
Claudia joined the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University in August 2011. She is deputy director of the Centre for Intelligence and International Security Studies (CIISS). Her PhD was awarded by Aberystwyth University, and the project was supported by a Marie Curie Early Stage Research Fellowship. Previously, she was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London. Claudia’s main research interests concern intelligence oversight and accountability; counter-terrorism; EU and global intelligence and police co-operation; and the tensions between security provision and democratic legitimacy. She is currently at the early stage of a comparative project which explores the role of news media in intelligence oversight in Germany, the US and the UK. She is keen to explore cultural aspects of policing/intelligence; aspects of transnational organised crime; and fictional representations of intelligence in the future.
Claudia has now relocated to Cardiff, where she has been promoted to Senior Lecturer in International Relations in the Cardiff School of Law and Politics at Cardiff University.
