Welsh Crucible 2013
Peter obtained a BEng Medical Engineering from the University of Bradford (2003), and a PhD (focussing on soft tissue injury biomechanics) from Cardiff University (2006). He has also earned a PGCert in University Teaching & Learning (2012) and is a Chartered Engineer.
Peter was a post-doc at Cardiff University for 13 months, before being appointed a Lecturer at the same institution (October 2007). He has been involved in securing £0.75M funding, and leads a research team working at the engineering-medicine interface. Hence, Peter leads collaboration with specialists from disciplines including orthopaedics, emergency medicine, paediatrics, physiotherapy, and biosciences. Additionally, he continually seeks industrial opportunities to translate research in to clinical practice, with one example being an on-going project aimed at improving chest compression performance during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Aside from research, Peter teaches across the breadth of students, from 1st year undergraduate through to senior clinicians and engineers on our specialist MSc programmes. He is also Director of Undergraduate Recruitment (Engineering), and Director of MSc Professional Engineering.
Peter has been promoted to Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at Cardiff University.
