Sofia Gameiro

Sofia Gameiro is a Mathematician and Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She is a Lecturer at the School of Psychology, Cardiff University. She conducted her doctoral studies at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, where she investigated how parents adjust to the birth of an IVF conceived child. More recently her research has focused other topics such as reproductive decision-making, patient centered care, screening, psychosocial care during infertility treatment and long-term adjustment after fertility treatment. Sofia Gameiro recently chaired a multidisciplinary international committee that developed the first evidence-based guidelines for psychosocial care in infertility, sponsored by he European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology. Sofia is keen to explore the use of different media to develop and implement psychosocial interventions and strategies to promote evidence-based practice in healthcare settings.
In 2017, Sofia was awarded the Welsh Crucible/Learned Society of Wales award for the best collaborative project 2011-2015 with Berit Bliesmann de Guevara.
Sofia has been promoted to Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Cardiff University.
