Jemma obtained her BSc degree in Psychology at Cardiff University and went on to complete a PhD in Health Psychology after three years working as a mental health practitioner for the NHS. She is now a research fellow at the UKCRC Centre of Excellence for the Development and Evaluation of Complex Interventions for Public Health Improvement [DECIPHer] in Cardiff University.
Jemma’s research interests span the fields of public health and health psychology, with a focus on the social determinants of health, well-being and health behaviours and understanding opportunities for intervention to improve health in complex systems. She has expertise in process evaluation methodologies and co-production methods for developing new interventions. She has a particular interest in school and community-based interventions for health improvement, having recently worked on studies focusing on promotion of physical activity, improving delivery of health education, and prevention of substance use.
Jemma is now a Senior Lecturer DECIPHer at the School of Sciences in Cardiff University.
