Welsh Crucible 2015
Originally from Canada, Dion completed his PhD in Politics at the University of Sheffield in 2011. He went on to work in Vilnius, Lithuania, conducting policy evaluations on European Union programmes and projects. After that, he worked as a post-doctoral research at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands, on a large-scale EU FP7 project looking at the future of public sector coordination, cohesion and reform in Europe. Dion started as a lecturer in public policy at Swansea University in September 2014 and was recently awarded an EU Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship for a two-year project examining multi-level governance, policy innovation and political legitimacy. He aims to examine how EU-level governance and policy processes have an impact on political legitimacy at local, regional and national levels in different European countries. He wishes to also use this project to develop new ways of linking his research with practical applications and public perceptions of the EU.
2016 Update: Dion is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Political and Cultural Studies at Swansea University.
